Humans of Pride
Humans of Pride is a boots-on-the-ground journey through 50 years of LGBTQ+ resistance and celebration, from the Stonewall Riots to WorldPride NYC 2019. Told through the voices of frontline activists, the film reveals why Pride remains not just a march, but a powerful, unfinished movement.

Kevin Coop is an award winning Brooklyn based director / producer, and the creator of the feature documentary, Humans of Pride. His inner activist was sparked when he learned of openly gay politician Harvey Milk’s story, and that it takes all of us to assure that progress remains constant.
Kevin channels his activism through filmmaking to uplift the stories of good people, doing great work, within the LGBTQ+ community. He’s produced shows for HBO MAX, Bravo, and NETFLIX.

When we first started this project in 2018, we hoped to create a blueprint for activism for generations to come. Years later, that vision has proven to withstand the test of time in the best way.
The perspective began with understanding some of the internal divisions within the community and how we can unite to solve them, or at the very least understand them more. What it evolved into was an idea of not only understanding our differences but that it takes all of us and more to protect the momentum of progress.
It is through these united perspectives and voices of the many, that we can produce a film with a lasting historical impact for our global community for future generations. That’s what we have learned to do through making this film and collaborating with the incredible activists and community organizers of our time. That’s the energy around the creation of this and the thousands of volunteer hours that built it. To lead by example and leave something special behind in tumultuous times like so many have before us.
