Director Biography - Veronika Francesca Štefančič

Veronika Francesca Štefančič graduated from the cinematography department at the Academy of Theatre, Radio, Film and Television in Ljubljana in 2022 and began her master’s degree in filmmaking in 2023.

During her studies, she completed two documentaries, a graduate short film, and a master’s short film. She works as a focus puller and first assistant camera on short and feature films, including Kaj and Ester, Ida, who sang so ugly that even the dead rose from the dead and sang with her, Western, and Washed and Buried.

As a director of photography, she shot two short films—The Smell of Hatred in Slovenia and Nature and Poetry in Croatia—and collaborated on music videos for artists like Astrid, Aka Neomi, Vlado Kreslin, MRFY, and Liza Končar.

In 2023, she founded ZFS Podmladek, the youth wing of the Slovenian Filmmakers’ Association, which organizes workshops, talks, and international festival opportunities for young cinematographers. She also led film photography workshops for children with Ostrenje pogleda from 2021 to 2023
