House of Light

House of Light is an intimate portrait of one family’s daily life when forced to remain together in their apartment in Dhaka, Bangladesh during the Covid-19 health crisis. Filmed by the director on his mobile phone during the Islamic holy month of Ramadan, the documentary transcends the quotidian and illuminates the every day with moments of aesthetic simplicity and ultimately, the spiritual sublime.

Director Statement

House of Light has opened my eye to understand the documentary filmmaking in a different way. So it's a gift of my life during COVID 19. Moreover, I have learned how to use a camera like a pen. The time has come to observe and focus inside the family. I have portrayed the family the way it is.
