Honey Hunters of my Village

Green Hub Fellow: Thangsoi M Khiamniugan
Organisation: Green Hub

The Khiamniungan tribe is one of the major tribes among the Nagas, with the habitation of both India and Myanmar. Till the 90s, like many other villages in Nagaland, the Choklangan village was cut off from the rest of the country and sustained itself through agriculture and barter trade with Myanmar for many years. They used to harvest the Cliff Bee’s honey and wax, and trade to Myanmar and in return they receive salt and medicines.

'Honey hunters of my village' is a story of my people, who has been practising the harvesting of Cliff Honey Bee even now, as a part of our culture and identities. But now it is only practised by a few people in my village. This culture will not only disappear but we will lose our identities as well. This film is dedicated to my people.
