Home Landing

"Home Landing (家·箱)" offers an observational glimpse into the life of a truck driver at Dayaowan Port in Dalian City, Liaoning Province, China. The Chinese title "家·箱" cleverly plays on the dual meanings of its characters 家 (home) and 箱 (box) which together signify "hometown." The film showcases the immense machinery, containers, and vehicles that define the port's landscape, juxtaposed with the driver's personal life interwoven among these regular work operations.

Director Statement

I was among the 10 young filmmakers selected from around the world for the prestigious Looking China Youth Film Project.

As part of this edition, I traveled to China, to create a short documentary.

The film was shot over about five days, during which I stayed with the driver while he worked at the port.

I filmed the work he was doing, the moments he experienced between tasks, stayed in his vehicle while he was driving, and followed his journey afterwards.

It took me about a week to edit the entire documentary, which included subtitling and Chinese translation.

Throughout my journey, I was guided by my Chinese and European mentors and accompanied by my fellow producers.

During this project, I was based at Beijing Normal University in Dalian, Liaoning Province.
