Experiencing Interruptions?

Hollywood Hot Haus

Inspired by Buster Keaton and classic art house films, this made-in-Hollywood short is about protecting life, and one man who will try anything to save what was taken from him.

Featuring actor, National Beat Poet Laureate and performer Rich Ferguson (Human Condition, What About Me, SWELL) and superstar drummer Butch Norton (Hellboy II: The Golden Army, Yes Man, The Condemned, The Lake House, and drummer for Lucinda Williams), and directed by Kathleen Florence Reichelt (SWELL, Tree Hugger, Poet's Ink), this five minute short asks what it is we take from ourselves, and what we are willing to do to get it back?

It's absurd to think that if a plant was stolen it would be worth so much trouble to get back. But if we think of the plant as truly personal in nature, what could be more high stakes than this planet we call home?

The film's story is inspired by art house and the great Buster Keaton. To emphasize the silent film aspect of this short, I've adjusted speed.

The scenes were shot in Hollywood, starting with Windsor Square. The soundtrack was edited with live drumming by Butch Norton.

My main goal for this short was to create a story that even a child could understand.
