Director Biography - André Amaral

André Amaral (Porto, 1997), studied Audiovisual Communication at the Soares dos Reis Art School. In 2016, he entered the Escola Superior Artística do Porto (ESAP), finishing his degree in Cinema and Audiovisual in 2019. Since 2012 he has tried to improve his technical and aesthetic qualities in direction of photography of several short films, videoclips, photography projects, among others, in a responsible and quality way.
While as Director of Photography, he participated in the short films "No Fim do Mar", (2018) finalist of the SOPHIA Awards 2019, "José" (2019) winner of the MIFEC Grand Prize: International Cinema Film Festival and "Prince" (2019), all directed by João Monteiro with support from the ICA - Instituto do Cinema e Audiovisual and ESAP. In 2019 he collaborated in the project "Aveiro 2027 - European Capital of Culture", produced by PixBee and in the short film "O Cemitério", by Saguenail as assistant director of photography of Jorge Quintela.
As a director, André debuted in 2016 with the short film "Hocus Pocus" in school, obtaining, in the 3rd edition of the SOPHIA Student Award, the 1st place in the Experimental category. This short film made a circuit of interesting national festivals: (2017) FEST - New Directors, New Films Festival; [2017] FANTASPORTO; [2017] CINEDITA - Arganil Short Film Festival; [2016] Porto / Post / Doc anda many others
