Highway exit

This woman puts on her pygama, closes the latch on her door. She sits on the bed, watching her stomach cover her thighs. She sighs then looks at the wall. The dirt rises and sinks in back and forth breathing. The woman stands silently looking at the wall for a moment. She goes to bed, listens to the breath of her nostrils, sometimes the breath growls, it is the beginning of sleep. A figure in black clothes comes out from under the bed. The figure looks at the woman and holds his breath to her rhythm. There are two breaths in the room, one knows and the other doesn't. The hooded figure approaches the skull of the sleeping man, breathes his scalp then leaves the apartment, slamming the door. The woman opens her eyes very hard. She stays in the dark for a moment without moving, listening to the silence. The next day she sees that the latch is open.
