As a virtual reality advocate and developer, Larry James is passionate about showing how the power of this new medium can deeply affect us in positive ways. An enthusiast since the earliest days of VR, Larry founded VR Maker Dome, dedicated to community outreach, in 2016. Since its inception, VR Maker Dome has brought first-impression VR experiences to thousands, exhibiting at MakerFaire & GeekGirlCon as well as smaller events. A founding member of organizations and events emphasizing local production, Larry has fostered cross community networking and cooperation among VR companies, developers, directors, and educators. His new endeavor, UpLiftVR Studios, is dedicated to generating transformative interactive virtual reality, starting with computer-generated experiences and documentary film, with additional pieces including augmented, mixed, and extended reality. Larry is driven to envision the sort of world we’d like to live in, by advocating action and accessibility to the knowledge and tools to create it.
With degrees in art and history, Julia Jackson’s visual design sense, art direction and practical experience behind the camera and in the editing room help translate traditional film concepts to this new visually immersive storytelling medium. She provided the inspiration for Maiden Flight and continues to be an integral part of its direction during it's ongoing development. Julia also played a key role in coordinating and implementing larger VR Maker Dome events. Guiding hundreds of people through their first VR experience has given her firsthand knowledge of what constitutes a great VR experience to a wide audience. In conjunction with UpLiftVR Studios, Julia envisions future projects that play with perception, time, mood, and space.
