Born in the former Soviet Union, D. Mitry launched his dream of filmmaking in 2015. Since 2016, several of his short films have won numerous awards at international film festivals. His short “Shade of Music” was acquired by PBS in 2016. In February 2020, D. Mitry completed his first feature film dedicated to his late daughter Alyssa, “My True Fairytale.” He wrote, directed, and produced the film that was acquired for world-wide distribution by Gravitas Ventures. It received Theatrical and On-Demand release in April 2021. The World Premiere of “My True Fairytale” was held at the Cinequest in March 2021.
"Hedgehog" was made by a lot of people with different ethnic backgrounds and nationalities including: Egyptians, Romanians, Mexicans, Finish, Spanish, Austrians and former residents of USSR, Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan and Belarus. I am incredibly thankful and amazed that people of so many nationalities got together to support Ukraine and to tell this beautiful story about the responsibility of being human to each other, especially during tough war time like this.
