Writer Biography - Mikelle Kruger, Patrick O McKenna

Mikelle Kruger is a Chicago-based artist and screenwriter working at the intersection of visual art, authorship, and female identity. A former gallery owner in Chicago and Marfa, she spent years inside the contemporary art world before turning to narrative storytelling.
Her work often centers on women navigating power, creation, and reinvention within cultural institutions.

Kruger holds an MFA from Northern Illinois University and a screenwriting certificate from UCLA. When she’s not writing, she paints walls, recently adding graffiti artist to her résumé. She lives in Chicago with her six children and two dogs.

For the better half of three decades, her writing partner, Patrick O. McKenna has written, acted, and directed shows at the Second City, as well as many other illustrious comedy institutions including I.O., Gaiety School of Acting in Dublin, and the Aspen Comedy Arts Festival. He has written, directed, and produced B2B industrial videos, broadcast commercials, and films for twenty years.
