Heather Andelsman is a two-time cancer survivor, writer and director from New York with a BFA in Film & Television from New York University Tisch School of the Arts. During her academic career, she wrote and directed several short projects. She focused heavily on television writing, completing a one-hour pilot and six episode mini series. Her pilot was a semi-finalist in the ScreenCraft Fellowship. Most recently, Heather worked for Sony Pictures Entertainment. She now lives in Los Angeles.
Heather was first diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia in 2016 at 19 years old. Heather received four rounds of chemotherapy to reach remission, until a year later in 2017 when she relapsed. She went on to receive more chemotherapy and a stem cell transplant. Five years later, Heather is cancer free and hoping to make an impact with her film, Great White Lies, based on her experience returning to life after cancer.
