Born and raised in the rough, east side neighborhood of Detroit known as the North End, Joe escaped the negative environment that surrounded him through music. Beginning piano lessons at the age of 10, Joe has gone on to work with Grammy award winning gospel artist, and produce countless independent jazz, R&B, and gospel albums. Joe moved into the world of film by producing songs on the soundtrack for the Warner Brothers film "Deep Blue Sea" starring LL Cool J and Samuel Jackson.
In addition to music, Joe has written and produced several stage plays, and moved into documentary filmmaking by producing #Senseless, which is a film about parents who have lost children to gun violence. Joe is currently working on his second documentary entitled Diamond Girls: Confessions, which is a documentary about women who have dated drug dealers telling their experiences in the street life
For years I've told stories through the medium of music as a musician, songwriter, and producer. But now the vehicle of film has opened up a whole new avenue of creativity for me. I have always been a fan of the human condition and I can't wait to share more stories using the power of cinema through both documentary and narrative films
