Director Statement

“My journey with making this film goes all the way back to when I was 8 years old when my mom showed me the original ‘Friday the 13th.’ Instantly I was entranced by the eerie atmosphere of the forest, the simplicity of the character archetypes, and of course, the outlandish kills. My earliest memories as a filmmaker were creating my own slasher films with my friends. I loved getting my hands dirty by making the bloodiest kills I could. I just couldn’t get enough of it. Above all else, I found slashers to be the most fun, and fun is what I primarily look for in film. When it came time to pick out an idea for my senior thesis film, I wanted to do something personal to me, and thus ‘Harvest of Horrors’ was born. My goal with this film was to emulate everything I loved about the 80s slasher. The atmosphere, the characters, and the kills—I wanted it all to be as authentic as I could make it. I hope this film connects with fans of the genre; I made it for them.”
