Masoud Abshi (Rad),
born in 1994, is a graduate of Automotive Mechanical Engineering and has also completed a Directing course at the Young Iranian Filmmakers Association in Tehran.
He began his artistic career in 2017, entering the fields of theater and acting. Over the following years, through his work in stage productions and short film projects, he gradually expanded his path toward directing.
His first independent experience as a writer and director is the short film “Harash”—a work with a psychological perspective and a realistic tone that succeeded in attracting the attention of independent audiences and critics.
“Harash” is also his most recent directorial effort, characterized by a humanistic and social approach, continuing his personal exploration of the inner crises of modern man.
Rad’s works focus on themes such as silence, psychological pressure, and the inner struggle of humans when confronting reality. His vision of cinema is rooted in truth-seeking and lived experience. He also has two short film scripts ready for production.
“Harash” is not merely the story of a sudden death; it is a reflection on the loss of human compassion in a society where indifference has become a habit.
I wanted to show how a small act—like throwing a bottle or trash out of a car window—can destroy a human destiny.
This film is about the responsibility we share toward one another and toward the Earth. It’s about the fragile boundary between death and birth, and how life is far more delicate than we imagine.
“Harash” is a reminder that kindness and mindfulness are not slogans—they are necessities for the continuation of life, both for humanity and for the planet.
