Happy Earth Day!

Earth Day arrives once more; banners wave, cameras roll, and people gather to celebrate the planet. Some attend out of passion, others out of habit. But amid the noise and performances, the only one truly watching, and remembering, is the Earth itself.

Director Statement

I've participated in and collaborated with several environmental festivals in Korea, and honestly, I had a bad feeling that I didn't know how to express. I couldn't easily talk with organizers or even participants. Everyone talked about the Earth, they printed a huge banner with a picture of the Earth, and a big sign that said: "We care about the Earth"... and shot it with a drone and waved their hands... and yet, after a few hours, that banner... went to the trash... I was always uneasy about that, and I needed to do something about it. And this is it.

Some of my friends and colleagues warned me about this movie, as this is not a face of environmental events and film festivals that they want to show, but let's be frank... the Earth doesn't care about our gestures. And I don't make movies to make festivals happy. I really care about and worry for our future, and I needed to make this movie. Someone really needed to make this movie, and I strongly believe this movie can make a change, especially in Korea.

So far, Korean festivals haven't accepted this movie, but I really hope this movie finds its way, and together with an impact campaign, we can greatly reduce the waste generated by all kinds of festivals in Korea. The system needs to change, and we need to start from somewhere. I want to start with this little humble movie.
