Director's Statement
One of the most pressing social issues in Iranian society is child marriage, particularly involving young girls. Every year, numerous films are produced that shed light on the harms of this practice.
Drawing on years of journalistic research in this field, I have sought to explore the broader dimensions of this issue in depth.
Happy End highlights the devastating long-term consequences of child marriage on a woman’s future. Women who marry as children often miss the experience of love in its natural form. When they reach adulthood, love finds them, leading to relationships that unfold differently from the romantic ideals they may have subconsciously absorbed.
As the director, I have deliberately refrained from passing judgment on such relationships, aiming instead to bring audiences closer to the complex realities of these women's lives. To achieve this, I have adopted a documentary-style approach, utilizing natural lighting to enhance authenticity.
