Half A Century

Ertuğrul Can, 82 years old, has been barber in the same shop for 54 years at the old bazaar in Erzincan. Although he has been retired for 25 years, he still continues to work. Every morning he comes to work with his bike. He opens the old shop and he burns the heating stove. As his age progresses, his clients decrease. Only 1-2 people in a day come to his barber shop. The customers are also old as himself. The reason why Uncle Ertuğrul can not break from his job to his onward age is that his spiritual bonds to his barber craft despite his expectation to gain money. The diminution of the customers of Uncle Ertuğrul also causes a kind of loneliness collapsed in his shop. This loneliness that he suffers in the shop could not prevent him from continuing his career. He struggles with the work of the shop to get rid of his loneliness during the day. He opens his old radio and watches the outside, waiting for someone to come to the shop....

Director Biography - Bayram Küçük

Turkish Director
He was born in Erzincan on 11th October 1995. He completed the primary and secondary schools in Erzincan. He studied in Radio Television in Giresun University, followed by Radio Television & Cinema department in the Communication Faculty of Aydin Adnan Menderes University. He created Fiction and Documentary movies. His movies appeared in international film festivals. His documentary movie "Preparation of the Last Journey" received "Top Talent" title in 2019 Adobe Design Achievement Awards.He was the semi-finalist in 2018 Adobe Design Achievement Awards with his documentary "Half a Century".
