Director Biography - Christen R. Carter

An award winning Writer/Director, Carter works in genres of comedy, dramedy, drama, and science fiction. As a writer, her strong sense of character is always at the heart of her stories, and her gift for dialogue is what studio executives and producers recognize as a standout quality. Though many of her ideas are high concept and commercial, she always looks to explore character in any narrative, and shape the story around relatable scenarios. As a Director, she is particularly talented working with actors and known for her strong collaborative spirit both on set and in post production. A true believer in the power of the creative group, Carter has a strong vision, but is always looking to shape her projects in the way that best serves the storytelling and final product with contribution from everyone involved.

Director Statement

Carla has become invisible in her marriage and even when she receives news worth sharing, her husband Ben isn't there to listen. "How To Make Shepherd's Pie" is a study in the nuance of a dysfunctional relationship, and the subtleties of narcissism that haunt a partner, the dynamic has broader ramifications to other relationships, and the struggle to find a way out.
