Experiencing Interruptions?

"HER STORY"

“HER STORY” is the documentary film about lesbian, bisexual and queer women in Kyrgyzstan. Its main character Mira is an open lesbian. She forced to live 10 years married to a man. After divorce, Mira gained independence and made coming out publicly to show that there are LGBTQ+ people in Kyrgyzstan. In addition, to inspire younger generation to live their lives.
“HER STORY” is a prime example of challenges that LBQ women face in order to defend their right to love. The film reflects the influence of patriarchal society norms and pressure from families, domestic violence and intersectional discrimination that make women more vulnerable, unprotected and weaker. Mira was born during the Soviet Union period and passed a long way from awareness to acceptance of her sexuality. Two young heroines represent current generation who were born in 2000. They are at the beginning of their journey into adulthood. However, all three heroes are united by the struggle for the right to be themselves.
