Director Biography - Alex Moreno-Novelo

Film writer, director and developer. He graduated from ENAC-UNAM, Mexico; specialized in script and development at EICTV, Cuba; and in documentary filmmaking at FilmArt Centre, Serbia.

He has produced award-winning short films (San Sebastián, ShortsMx); and directed short films awarded at FICUNAM, Architecture +Design Film Festival Winnipeg, and DocsPuebla, among others.

He coordinates PERIFERIA Acervo Comunitario Audiovisual, an initiative to create audiences and film/audiovisual projects about memory and present day in Puebla, México and beyond.

Director Statement

A menudo habitamos la belleza que ignoramos. Atrapados en el ajetreo de la vida diaria, nos cegamos a la mayoría de las cosas y personas que nos rodean. Solo al atrevernos a mirarnos de verdad, creamos conexiones genuinas. Al reflexionar sobre nuestros momentos cotidianos, incluso en su belleza repetitiva o fugaz, quizás redescubrimos una manera no solo de sobrevivir, sino de vivir de verdad.

Often we inhabit beauty we ignore. Caught up in the rush of daily life, we blind ourselves from most things and people around us. Only while daring to truly look into each other, we create genuine connections. By reflecting on our everyday moments, even in their repetitive or fleeting beauty, may be we rediscover a way to not just survive, but to truly live.
