Gyeonggi-do: silences that speak
“This film is designed to speak to international audiences through a universal, symbolic language, presenting Gyeonggi-do as a place where memory, silence, nature, and future coexist. This AI-driven promotional short film unfolds as a journey between dream, cinema, and cultural storytelling, exploring the identity of Gyeonggi-do.
The film opens with a young girl reflecting on what is truly real in the contemporary world. In an age dominated by noise, images, and constant stimulation—where everything feels artificial—she arrives at a simple yet profound truth: only silence is real. A sentence spoken by her grandfather becomes the poetic core of the film, as well as a reflection of the deep soul of Gyeonggi-do:
“There are silences that speak of places, and places that speak through their silences.”
Set within a suspended winter landscape, on a bridge that symbolically recalls the Freedom Bridge of the DMZ, a floating luminous sphere appears, inspired by the principle of yin and yang. Its colors—blue, red, and the white of the landscape—intentionally echo the Korean flag, creating a strong visual and cultural connection.
When the girl touches the sphere, the film shifts in rhythm and language. Inside the glowing orb, holographic visions of real locations from Gyeonggi-do emerge, reinterpreted through AI in a fluid and symbolic sequence. Nature, Wonder, Heritage, Memory, Design, and Bridge to the Future unfold as chapters of a single territorial identity, portraying the province as a place where landscape, history, memory, technology, and the future coexist—suggesting that without knowledge of the past, there can be no future.
Created through a hybrid creative process combining AI-assisted research and visual generation (ChatGPT), AI video production (Kling AI), voice transformation (Voices AI), and AI-generated music and algorithmic sound design (one of the song is made with the AI tool Suno), the short film concludes with a clear and universal message for the audience:
“All of this in one place.”
That place is Gyeonggi-do.
