Alex Forstenhausler graduated from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, where he majored in film and television with a minor in producing. Since then, he has written and directed a slew of short films and web series, featuring the talents of Amar'e Stoudemire, Richard Kind, Len Cariou, Kurt Braunohler, and Vincent Pastore. His work has appeared in festivals all over the world—garnering awards such as Best Director, Best Narrative Short, and Best Actor—as well as on the websites Funny or Die and HuffPo. Alex served as the story editor and creative consultant for ALIX, a feature film about a young girl recruited as a child soldier in the Colombian jungle, who escapes into a magical realm through her imagination. The film is now streaming on Amazon Prime.
In addition to his work in film, Alex works as a freelance writer/producer of digital content for companies like Digital Workshop, VaynerMedia, and SideSwipe Media. He was a quarterfinalist for the Nicholl Fellowship, a three-time finalist for the New York Television Festival’s pilot competition, and winner of WeTV’s pilot competition. As a comedian, he’s written and performed for several Friars Club events, including the roasts of Padma Lakshmi, Ricky Schroder, and Dennis Rodman.
"Dating in New York is tough."
―Every stand-up comedian ever
"Guy Meets Girl" is a romantic comedy with a twist—a crowd-pleasing comedy/horror hybrid that delves into the complexities of modern dating from multiple perspectives. Much like "Rashomon," the film unpacks the same event from different angles, revealing how each character’s perception colors their reality. At its heart, the film reflects my greatest fears, filtered through a comedic lens. I hope the film motivates people to look inward and avoid the same pitfalls the characters experience as a result of miscommunication and ignorance. Above all, I want audiences to enjoy the ride while laughing, cringing, and perhaps even reflecting on their own dating misadventures.
