Director Statement

When we said we were travelling to outback Queensland, we were asked, “Why would ya?”.

There are lots of reason of course: big skies, stunning landscapes, friendly people. But our main focus was the 25th Boulia camel races.

We put the word out that we were going to make a film and invited anyone who wanted to be a part of the film crew, to join us. We arrived in Boulia with five people, three motorhomes, two dogs and a variety of assorted phones and cameras. In other words, everything we needed.

The camel races kicked off (sometimes literally) and the fun started with the crew ready to video the action; not only the races, but the ‘befores’ and the ‘afters’ and the things in-between.

Editing has been fun. Camels are fun. The Boulia races are fun and I hope the film captures that.

Why would ya? Why wouldn’t ya?
