Grimace Studios
Grimace Studios was a short-term Film Studio for experimental footage, both physical and digital – and both at once. The Studio makes use of STAEUBLI robotic arms for both camera and set motion. It seeks to play with different techniques of morphing and switching between physical and digital footage, e.g. by trying to replicate a physical assembling virtually via the creation of Digital Twins or by exploring the reduction of pixels, highlighting outlines and reducing the amount of color steps. Ultimately, the Studio showcases its ability to use robotic technology, produce character and environment designs, rigging, use different animation techniques, lighting, compositing and creative directing.
