ROYEL OTIS | Going Kokomo
Going Kokomo: the ultimate youth track. The video sees us jumping from location to location to places of Kokomo, each setting bound by groups of chaotic youth and the Go Kokomo number (565-666) they have dialled.

The track Going Kokomo oozes youthful energy. It speaks to the idea of welcoming silliness and basking in the lighter side of life, relishing like teenagers so often do in their prime: without responsibility, utterly carefree and withdrawn from the duties of adulthood. It was only fair that the music video followed suit and echoed the larrikin easy-going energy of the Royel Otis duo.
In an attempt to honour our past pioneers, The Smashing Pumpkins 1979 and Blind Skateboards Video Days, this video set out to document today's youth - to capture a cultural moment in time - youth bound by technology but ultimately united by the present moment. Youth in their places of Kokomo.
The underlying narrative speaks to the notion that we are all navigating the trials and tribulations of being human. Still, most importantly, we're doing it together: in sync with one another. It's about this cross-over of human connection, and that whilst we may be responding, thinking and feeling in different ways to our sole experiences, we can embrace and laugh at the fact that, ultimately, we are all just mere mortals trying to decipher our existence. So why not welcome it? Why not completely let go? Step into your youth and Go fucking Kokomo.
