Director Statement

I wanted to make a film with my Opa and Oma in my mother's hometown of Heemskerk in the Netherlands. This was always a special place for me and my sisters to visit as kids, and my goal was to capture its unique beauty. With a script in hand, I was lucky enough to find an amazing international group of skilled collaborators who braved the rainy Dutch weather and tourist-filled streets of Amsterdam to help this story come to life. 'Going Dutch' is a love letter to my Dutch roots, with all its beauty, bluntness, and propensity to think outside the box.
