Marialejandra started in cinema, starring in Ivan Feo's feature film "Ifigenia" (Venezuela 1986), and from there, she began working in film, theater, and television.
In 1994 she started her own production company LA CAJA TEATRO to co-produce a play with the Peruvian actor/director Alberto Isola, with seasons in Caracas and Lima.
In 1998 she moved to New York City to study at the Lee Strasberg Institute with George Loros, Robert Castle, Pennie DuPont, Geoffrey Horne, and Michael Margotta among her teachers.
In 2001 she returned to Venezuela and began directing while training in different areas of cinema with Venezuelan filmmakers, such as Thaelman Urgelles, Carmen La Roche, Luisa de la Ville, Héctor Moreno, and Ivan Feo.
She completed diplomas in Cinematography, and Film Directing at the ENC (National Film School), Rafael Marziano, Luis Alberto Lamata, and Laura Goldberg, among her tutors.
Her first short film ("Go Back Forward" 2019) was selected in more than 20 international film festivals and represented Venezuela in the FIACINE exhibition "Women in Short".
Her second short film ("Ritorno" 2023) was shot with funds obtained through a fundraising campaign with more than 80 sponsors, and the post-production was completed with the support of CNAC.
