Nizami Murtuzayev is an Azerbaijani director born in Russia, educated in Switzerland, and currently living in the United States. His work is driven by his love for Russian literature and European films while drawing inspiration from his cultural roots.
Today, he brings all of these influences together in his work, creating award-winning films that are deeply personal and universal in their themes. He often explores the complex relationships between people and the world around them, delving into questions of identity, belonging, and the search for meaning.
When I was little, it felt like my parents had a secret life. There was so much they seemed to hide from me.
And the film is about that. It is called Glimpse of Childhood. It is a family drama that often takes dramatized topics like break up, cheating, and self-harm and puts it in perspective of a young girl who witnesses those things happen to her family as they try to hide it from her.
