Director Biography

Eric Ibarra is a Chicano filmmaker from the Mexican border-town of Chula Vista, Calif. After studying film in New York City, Eric started creating video content for places like The FADER, The Players’ Tribune and The Sundance Institute. His original work, spanning from short films to feature scripts, has been recognized by the San Diego Latino Film Festival, the Philadelphia Latino Film Festival, the NYC International Screenplay Awards, and the Southern California Screenplay Competition. By focusing on genuine storytelling, with moments of surrealism and dark comedy, Eric shines a light on the stories about how the system fails the transborder and Chicanx communities. He currently resides in Los Angeles where he is in development for his first feature film and TV series.

GLAFIRA is universal in theme as it honors both the connection and disconnection between immigrant generations. It also brings awareness to the transborder community to help de-stigmatize the Mexico/California border.
