Gladstone Girls

Based on a true story, set in 1974, Stoke-On-Trent, England, Gladstone Girls is about a group of fiery pottery workers who start a protest to protect a tradition they hold dear, which is under threat by their sexist and authoritarian floor manager. The girls attract national attention and galvanize the community.

Chris Overton is an Academy Award® winning director, member of The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and a founder of Slick Films.
Chris made his directorial debut with 'The Silent Child’, for which he received the Academy Award® for Best Live Action Short, as well as over 50 other international awards with ‘The Silent Child' and his second short, ‘Leader’. His latest film ‘in too deep’ had its World Premiere at the prestigious Landshut Kurzfilm Festival in Germany and returned to the Oscar® Qualifying Rhode Island, Hollyshorts film festivals in August. The film has received critical acclaim and picked up over 20 awards and screening at international, Oscar® and BAFTA Qualifying festivals such as Rhode Island, Holly Shorts and Raindance Film Festivals.
Chris has supported first time filmmakers across 30 short films so far through his Academy® Award winning production company, Slick Films.
