László is a Budapest-based independent filmmaker working across directing, cinematography, and editing. Through his studio, LPZ Experience (founded in 2017), he explores the boundaries of music and imagery. His work deliberately steers clear of traditional narratives, focusing instead on creating immersive, atmosphere-driven experimental and musical shorts. László’s filmography includes the festival-screened short films LISA & EMMA and Girls, Angels, Melodies, followed by his most recent release, Emma's Birthday.
My creative intention was to combine the style features of an experimental short film with a music video, both in terms of sound and visual appearance. Although there is no linear narrative in the film, I tried to create a chain in the plot line when directing the film. The goal was to make it impossible for the viewer to decide whether what they saw could be taken seriously or not. A strange mixture of fiction and reality appears in the film, which at times seems dramatic and at other times funny. In addition to digital filmmaking, the atmosphere of analog filmmaking also appears in the film, which further enhances the film's mystery.
The film focuses on the diversity and mysterious omnipotence of the human face. This short film is the second part of a film trilogy. The first part of the trilogy is the short film Lisa and Emma (2020). The individual parts are completely independent and different from each other. But both films focus on the theme of identity. The third part of the film trilogy is currently in the preparation stage.
An important aspect of the cast selection was that the two characters should be able to suggest the same identity to the viewer both externally and internally. I can tell you that this movie will always be special to me because I got to work with my little daughter.
The cycle of life; the theme of identity; everything is not what it seems. These themes are the focus of the film.
It was a special challenge for me. A special experiment with film genres and filmmaking itself!
