Ginger
Ginger, depicts the story of the family father's 40th birthday and how each member of this family deals with their fear of death. An 80-year-old grandmother, Martín, who is celebrating his 40th birthday, his wife Jane on the brink of turning 40, their neighbor Augustina, and Romie, the 5-year-old daughter of the family, all grapple in their own way with existential fears in modern life. The fear of death appears in various forms at different ages, and each person, based on the mentioned characteristics, unconsciously adopts a defensive mechanism to suppress this fear. This suppression leads to moments in life where they cannot enjoy the moment. On the other hand, the characters in the story are so immersed in everyday routine life that they have forgotten to pursue activities they are interested in or set aside activities they dislike. The characters in the story have forgotten that sometimes it can be too late! too late to feel… too late to enjoy and too late to flow!
Sometimes observing a kid’s vision of the world and concept of life can be a stunning resource to asset our mindset and defense mechanisms to reevaluate our life values.

Danial was born in Kerman, an ancient city in Iran. He began performing on stage as an actor and, after studying civil engineering and working as a construction manager for five years, he decided to immigrate to Canada and begin a new journey by studying Film Production at Toronto Film School. Since then, he has been working as an independent filmmaker based in Toronto, Canada.
The fear of death has always accompanied humanity, and many of our life decisions are unconsciously influenced by it. The fear of death confronts humans, regardless of race, color, gender, or age, with a terrifying dread...
The fear of nonexistence and absolute silence!
This fear prompts humans to unconsciously choose defense mechanisms to cope with the threat, and adopting such mechanisms intensifies in situations such as the death of loved ones or approaching a crisis age like 30, 40 and 80. Approaching the age of 30 and living in the Middle East, filled with death and the fear of losing the sweet opportunity of living, motivated me to become familiar with existentialist philosophy. Understanding existentialism fueled my passion to share it and compelled me to introduce the audience to the fear and defense mechanisms arising from it through making "GINGER".
I hope the day comes when no one deprives themselves of life due to the fear of death.
