Director Biography - Ryan Murtha

Ryan Murtha started making short sketches on his HD mini-DV camcorder while he was in his undergrad at the United States Naval Academy. After graduation, he continued to make shorts and started to study improvisational comedy. While on Active Duty, he performed in various stage and film productions and produced multiple short documentaries about training in the Navy. He currently works as a Public Affairs Officer for the Navy Reserves.

He graduated from Chapman University in 2021, where he received his Directing M.F.A. and assistant directed a music video for the band, Making Movies, the web series Headless.

He is in post production for a music video and a documentary he shot about an ultra endurance athlete who ran from Alabama to Utah at the pace of a marathon a day, for 76 consecutive days.

Ryan’s work has been selected to take part in in various film festivals, winning several awards.
