Director Statement

Game Over was an incredibly ambitious film to make, stretching our knowledge of Visual Effects to the limit. We used pioneering virtual production techniques, utilising our strong contacts inside Mo-Sys Engineering. Our goal was to take green screen filmmaking to the next level, and push the amazing team behind us to the max.

The most challenging aspect of Game Over was the sheer amount of choreography and magic effects. We needed to integrate the magic into the fight sequence, and have it interact with our talent. To do this, we relied on some outstanding performances, as well as new techniques mixing real-time technology, 3D graphical elements, and smart compositing techniques. In all, our pipeline was complex, and adding in staff choreography and magic VFX really topped it off.

Even though we strived to create a visually different film, we didn't neglect the story. Our protagonist, Rima of the Ashen Fields, truly believes that what he is doing is great, that his world needs him... but our twist really brings his feeling of despair home. His world simply isn't real... and now he's completed the game, what happens next? Something not very nice!
