Director Statement

I really wanted to develop a story that focused on a group of women with resilience, strength and camaraderie within an industrial setting.
My grandma would often tell me stories of her work during WW2, helping to make Lancaster Bombers in Trafford Park Manchester. During that time there was an influx of women into factory jobs which created a unique, high-pressure environment that forged deep and lasting friendships. These bonds were built on shared hardships, long shifts, and a collective sense of duty, which helped women navigate an unfamiliar, male-dominated workplace.
GRAIN, is a story of camaraderie, resistance and determination in a world of uncertainty and fear.
