Director Statement

GOOD MONSTERS is a dramedy that combines ease and severity. An homage to French cinema as well as to German film. A link that transforms in the transmedia age - transforms into the worldwide web and thus reaches almost everyone: the topic of ADDICTION, regardless of which form it takes, is more relevant than ever. We are not only interested in what happens to those who are “addicted”, but also to their relatives. The subject is so dark and difficult that hardly anyone wants or can shed light on the matter. It is not only about not looking away, but about paying attention. And since the topic is characterized by significant destructiveness, this can only be achieved if the topic is transformed. A hybrid of ease and severity emerges: dramedy, that is. GOOD MONSTERS is meant to encourage - all the relatives of addicts, all the addicts, all those who could become addicts; it is meant to enlighten AND, through music, go straight to the heart. Breaking the fourth wall by singing in a serial format is an attractive thought. Not only because Brecht already loved to use the “alienation effect” as a literary stylistic element and main component of epic theater, which irritates and at the same time connects.
