To fulfill his grandmother’s last wish, Farhan makes a new funeral bier (gahvara) to take her body to the burial ground. But the events that happen thereafter change Farhan's life and perspective forever.

Director Biography - TARIQ MOHAMMAD

Tariq Mohammad started his career as TV show dialogue and screenplay writer. He has written many television series in India including Kareena kareena etc. and then switched to feature film writing and have written hindi language films like Sweetie weds NRI, Dil hai gray, Dear Dia and Boondi Raita etc.
Funeral Bier (Gahvara) is his directorial debut.

Director Statement

I wanted to tell a story which belongs to my roots. Since I was born and brought up in the same Indian Muslim culture/ milieu. So, being a director, it was relatively easy for me to tell the story in a more realistic, authentic and honest way.
We as a team, including actors and technicians, have tried our best to make this short film as realistic as we could.
