Director Biography - Lorenzo Mannino

Passionate about cinema and its language since childhood, at the age of fifteen I started this “journey”, always trying to understand what to see and what to watch. I made several short films at an early age, then dealing with the creation of music video clips, live concerts, reportage and some commercials. Immediately after graduating in Technological Arts, at the Academy of Fine Arts in Catania, I moved to Milan to attend the Experimental Center of Cinematography, where I specialized in advertising, commercials and business docs, taking care of the direction of various projects. : “Cult City - Lodi” for the Lombardy region, “Catisfashion” for Eataly and the spot "Beermouth" for "Baladin Spirits". In the meantime I continued to be a filmmaker in some agencies and production houses in Milan and Rome, such as Synapsy, Lalà, Sisma productions and Smile Vision. I have always cultivated the dream of making films, and I have made it concrete by writing and shooting various shorts and film projects, then specializing in the noir and thriller genres. Some of these have participated in international FilmFestivals. In 2015 I made the short “Ct Duel”, an urban and grunge remake, from Catania, of Spielberg's “Duel”. Paying homage to him. In 2017 I made the short "The Runner", shot entirely on a subjective basis, winning the prize for best short of 70 seconds at the tenth "Festival del Piccolo grande cinema", in the "Tempo Limite" competition. Currently, the short film "There where there is too much light", a Milanese noir, after a year of distribution, has won and participated in several international festivals (Global Youth film festival, Foggia Film festival). While the graduation work, currently being distributed, is the short film "I Catch you (nightmare in search of author)", based on the story of the same name by Gianluca Vittorio ("Milan of the author", 2014, Morellini Editore). Final graduation essay at the Experimental Center (winner at the Oniros Film Awards and at Corti in Cortile). I also worked as assistant director for independent web series, shorts and documentaries. "Mist City" instead is my project, work in progress, for a future TV series or feature film, crossover of my three shorts, whose Pitch Trailer won Best Pitch Trailer at the Trailers FilmFest.

I move between the north of Italy and Sicily, having Turin and Catania as bases. Now I'm dealing with the pre-production of my first film "Tempo rubato" - written by Paolo Picciolo - of which
the Pitch Trailer already exists. But also of a serial project, in episodes, entitled "Pulp Sicily Stories", together with Adriano Spadaro, Lenzo and Samir Kharrat. My latest works, in post-production phase, are the short "From the Sea", made during the "Kinoguarimba" (a film residency organized by La Guarimba Film Festival, in Amantea) and the short "The unreal city", sponsored by the Piemonte Film Commission.
