I'm Kgi, an Italian-Mauritian artist, and my professional identity is expressed as a dancer, choreographer, and dance director. I hold a degree in Motor Sciences and a diploma in physicality and scenic space—new technologies of performance. My passion for hip hop culture and breaking was born as a young boy in Ancona, my small but historic seaside city. The true essence of my creations lies in my ability to act as a connector: I select and link elements scattered throughout time, through various styles, media, places, and tools. My goal is to nullify their apparent distance, tracing a new and unique artistic direction.
I started dancing in 2006, beginning with breaking. From 2011, in parallel, I gained experience in dance theatre, studying and working with some members of the Pina Bausch company. This dual path led me to develop a passion for directing and choreography, without ever abandoning my origins.
Since 2021, after years of studying dance, directing, and various performances, I have become the first historical representative of the Groovin' Brothers crew from Ancona, I direct the Groovin' Synchro dance company, and I lead the videographic project named 'Free's'tale'."
