Francis
Filmed with smart phones, mixed up with photography, Francis (2020) attempts at understanding the conjoined interest of the two artists in the film “Flowers of St Francis” by Rosselini (St Francis being the Saint of Nature and animals). It follows the life of a river shrimp, the attempt of 32 children from a school in rural Liguria in Italy to be followers but who end up facing some misunderstandings
in what it is that they must follow and develop their own desires and two other fictionalized adult characters that through actions and songs try to see in which ways they can relate to nature.
In this atmosphere, narrative is continually defeated in favor of the incomplete, the aleatory, and the suggestive poetic anecdote that is, alternatively, a dead end.
