Fox and the City

Foxes are true masters of adaptation. They feel at home in any climate and manage to get used to all kinds of manmade changes in their environment.
In fact, they feel particularly comfortable in cities. Like the long standing clan of the Berlin government district or the fox family at Innsbrucker Platz in Schöneberg.
In the German country side foxes are facing a tougher life: Vixen often have to raise their young alone and find food in an less and less diverse landscape. Hunting is still prevalent and quite relentless out in the countryside, constantly disrupting an otherwise more stable population of foxes.
It took filmmakers Roland Gockel and Rosie Koch more than two years to earn the trust of some members of this very smart species. Their patience was rewarded by rare footage of the surprisingly devoted family life of city and country foxes alike, with all its challenges, dangers and joy.
