Director Biography - Kelly Frye

Kelly Frye is an actress, producer, and emerging director with a passion for crafting sharp, character-driven stories. She made her directorial debut with the 2024 comedy Four Influencers and a Funeral, a biting satire on the influencer world.

As a producer, Kelly has championed original storytelling, spearheading the award-winning one-act play All the Way to the Top, which she later adapted into an acclaimed comedy series. She has also developed and produced stage works such as With Love From California, raising funds for Hurricane Harvey disaster relief efforts in Houston and Puerto Rico.

Kelly has appeared in numerous TV and film roles, including Secrets of Sulphur Springs, Law & Order: SVU, The Rookie, 9-1-1: Lone Star, All Rise, Criminal Minds, The Flash, NCIS: LA, 12 Mighty Orphans, and Robert Rodriguez’s Hypnotic. After shadowing directors on The Fosters and Secrets of Sulphur Springs, she stepped behind the camera, bringing her years of on-set experience into the director’s chair.

Her work focuses on female-driven, socially relevant narratives with a comedic edge, and Four Influencers and a Funeral serves as an exciting proof of concept for future projects.

Director Statement

Four Influencers and a Funeral was an idea I couldn’t shake in early 2023. The industry was at a standstill due to the strike, and I saw an opportunity to create something bold, timely, and hilarious. I pitched the concept to my friend Daved, and within two days, we had a first draft. Two months later, we were on set, shooting our 22-page script on a shoestring budget, fueled by favors and a passionate team.

The result? A sharp, laugh-out-loud satire of the influencer world, brimming with the humor and energy we envisioned from the start. Stepping into the director’s chair was exhilarating—bringing my experience as an actor and set observer into play in a new way. I’m hooked. Four Influencers and a Funeral is just the beginning, and I can’t wait to bring more stories to life as a filmmaker.
