Director Statement

Four Games to Three is a comedy about the unexpected encounter between an old man and death. When the Grim Reaper shows up at the old man's door, the man assumes that he is a Lakers fan due to his mismatched socks. However, it quickly becomes clear that the Grim Reaper has no knowledge of basketball, leading to a humorous and tension-filled conversation between the two.

Through this film, I aim to explore the idea that death can be unexpected and may not always come in the way we expect it to. The old man's assumption that the Grim Reaper is a Lakers fan and his subsequent dismissal of him serves as a commentary on how we often try to impose our own expectations and labels on life and death though in fact we constantly face of the unknown. The open-ended resolution of the film leaves the audience to ponder the ultimate outcome of the encounter between the old man and the Grim Reaper. Or, if the Grim Reaper acquiesces to contemporary sales tactics to convince people to cross over, we may have far extended lifespans.

Thank you for joining me on this journey of exploring the mysteries of mortality.
