Director Biography - Dee Brown, Omarosa Manigualt Newman

Dee Brown is a multifaceted entrepreneur, award-winning producer, director, writer, author, talk show host, and philanthropist. He is the Founder and CEO of The P3 Group, Inc., the nation’s largest African American-owned, public-private partnership real estate development firm. He also serves as the Founder & Chairman Emeritus of the nonprofit Brown Foundation Community Development Corporation.

Dee holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Memphis, an MBA from Bethel University, and numerous professional certifications. He is a life member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., the NAACP, Producers Guild of America, National Academy of Television, Arts & Sciences, the International Documentary Association and Entrepreneur Leadership Network. He also serves on the board of directors for the U.S. Minority Contractor’s Association Arkansas & Tennessee region. Dee also serves on the Documentary and Nonfictional Committee for the Producers Guild of America.


As a contributing writer for Forbes.com, Entrepreneur.com, Metro Magazine, and Peoria Magazine, Dee shares his insights and experiences. He has a 30-year record of real estate sales, development, and management, overseeing all phases of multi-million dollar construction, infrastructure, water/sewer, and environmental projects for government and private-sector clients.


In the realm of media, Dee is the President and CEO of the film production company, Self Made Entertainment, Inc. and Dee Brown, Inc., which operates the streaming channel Self Made TV. Additionally, he hosts the internationally ranked podcast The Sky’s the Limit: Beyond the Deal, launched in collaboration with Forbes Books and now produced by Self Made TV. Dee also is the executive producer and host of the WTVP/PBS television talk shows Self Made with Dee Brown CEO and #HBCYou with Dee Brown CEO.


Dee has extended his brand into the fashion and lifestyle sectors as the founder of Self Made Dee Brown CEO luxury custom clothing and Self Made Dee Brown CEO Sipping Tequila, which debuted in the spring of 2023. He is also the CEO of P3 Group Charters, Inc., a yacht charter company located in Fort Lauderdale, FL that owns and operates his 100 ft. luxury yacht, Self Made.


Over the years, Dee has received numerous honors. In 1999, he was named the Entrepreneur of the Year for the state of Tennessee by the U.S. Small Business Administration. His construction firm, Concrete Constructors, Inc., was named the 7th fastest-growing inner-city company in the country by ICIC and Fortune Magazine in 2015. In 2019, The P3 Group Inc. was recognized as a Mississippi business success story by the Mississippi Development Authority. Dee was also selected as a member of the Forbes Real Estate Council (2020) and Forbes Business Council (2021-2023). In 2021, he received the Congressional Black Caucus Presidential Corporate Philanthropy Award from the National Bar Association and was appointed the National Advisor on Public-Private Partnerships and Urban Redevelopment for the President of the National Bar Association (2021-2022). Most recently, he received the Joseph Biden’s President Lifetime Achievement Award (2023).


Dee has been a featured guest on international podcasts and has spoken as an expert on the subject of P3s for a variety of organizations. He holds the honor of being the first minority Department of Defense contractor to hold a federal contract with the US Navy Nuclear Power Command at Goose Creek, SC (2013). Under his leadership, The P3 Group has grown into the largest minority real estate development company that focuses exclusively on public-private partnerships.
