Forgiving Charity was created in the aftermath of my father’s death from brain cancer—a loss that reshaped my life and forced me to confront profound grief, trauma, and the limits of hope. Through this film, I explored not only that pain, but also questions of meaning, purpose, and resilience.
Growing up gay in a conservative, Catholic environment, I struggled deeply with self-acceptance—but my father was one of the first people to offer me compassion and validation. This film is both a tribute to him and a reflection of the life I rebuilt through art.
Forgiving Charity was selected for several LGBTQ+ film festivals, including the Academy®-qualifying Out On Film in Atlanta, and stands as my most personal and meaningful work.
