Solomon Emuria (Artsy Solomon) is a self-taught visual storyteller specializing in documentary films and photography. Born and raised in the Northern Kenyan county of Turkana, his work is inspired by the diverse culture and traditions of the people in Turkana. His documentary short film ‘Staki Glue’ (2021) won first prize at the 2021 Smartphone Film Competition at Alliance Française de Nairobi.
Just like the rest of the world, the nomads of Turkana have also been affected by the adverse effects of climate change.
I chose to direct this documentary film from my hometown so that the global community gets to see my side of the world which is often underrepresented.
While watching this film, the viewer will get to experience the daily lives of the Turkana nomadic pastoralists and understand how climate change affects them economically and socially.
