Foiled is a film based on my experience with lying as a child. Growing up, I often found myself in the middle of lies to evade the consequences of a mistake. Of course, I got caught most of the time. After making the same mistake several times, I learned that people are usually forgiving if we’re willing to be honest about what we did wrong.
What makes this short particularly interesting is that the story is told through the kids’ perspective. Stakes are always higher for children because they don’t have as much life experience and any small mistake can feel like the end of the world. Also, since the protagonist is just ten, he deals with problems in a very different way than adults do. This puts a funny twist on the film, which creates a heartwarming experience.
