Flourish
A college undergrad drops out in order to follow their dream of becoming a flower while navigating the haze of their own memories.
"A short film expressing life as stream-of-consciousness through the story of a disillusioned soul who leaves the expectations of the world behind them in order to become that which they truly are, a being of life, death, and love without bounds."

Dylan Hensley is an MFA Graduate in Documentary Production from the University of North Texas, with a BA in Media Arts and Minor in Anthropology.
At the time of this films production, they were but a humble undergrad trying to may sense of their world and their identity.
Their work spans from experimental documentaries that focus on community and the environment, to vlogs and short films embedded with magical realism. They are also an accomplished musician under the stage name Saint Naive.
Flourish was the hardest film for me to work on as my first independent film as a student, not because of it’s production but because of what I went through in my personal life as I worked on it. Now when I think of this film I will be reminded of these times, both painful and loving.
This story became a reflection of my soul as I struggled with the social expectations and internal voices that I came to identify with as I grew up, I ignored what my soul truly reached out for. Now I understand, through filmmaking and storytelling, I can reclaim that space through self-expression.
With much love, Dylan
