Carl Sundström was born back in 1992 and was raised in Kramfors, Sweden. He recorded his first amateur film as a 9 year old and he's been making movies ever since. Now, he has taken it to the next level. He graduated from film school in 2017 and during his time there he wrote and directed a few horror shorts.
His passion has always revolved around the storytelling about horror and the paranormal. That combined with the fixation of documentary film-making, he has created the hour+ long award winning documentary film ”Documenting the Witch Path”.
He has since continued with short films within the horror genre, which he hopes to revolutionize one day.
Finally Alone is an attempt to bring horror back to its suspenseful roots. In today's European and American horror market we mostly get to experience the overused phenomenon ”jump scare”. Over the last decade or two, jump scares has been something that has been slowly replacing the groundwork of true horror. The sustaining feeling of discomfort that should follow the viewer away from the screen is being desolated by this overuse. By only using disproportionately loud sounds to make the audience scream without really knowing what they are seeing is not what real horror is in my world. The art of horror that Finally Alone is based on, is the true nature of fear that has been mostly preserved in east Asian film.
Horror is not just screams. It's the unsettling feeling like tinnitus when it's completely quiet. It comes back to haunt you every time you close your eyes...
